Power management

Power management is a feature of some electrical appliances, especially copiers, computers, CPUs, GPUs and computer peripherals such as monitors and printers, that turns off the power or switches the system to a low-power state when inactive. In computing this is known as PC power management and is built around a standard called ACPI. This supersedes APM. All recent (consumer) computers have ACPI support.

In the military, power management often refers to suites of equipment which permit soldiers and squads to share diverse energy sources, powering often incompatible equipment.

AC Power Recovery (전원 복구 시 자동 부팅)

이 기능은 BIOS/UEFI에서 설정하며, 정전 후 전원이 복구되거나 콘센트에 전원을 연결했을 때 컴퓨터가 자동으로 켜지도록 한다.

BIOS/UEFI 설정 방법

부팅 시 DEL 또는 F2 키를 눌러 BIOS에 진입한 뒤, 제조사별로 아래 경로에서 설정을 찾을 수 있다.

일반적인 경로:

  • Advanced → Power Management → AC Power Recovery (또는 After Power Loss)
  • Power → APM Configuration → Restore on AC Power Loss

설정 값:

  • Power Off (기본값) — 전원이 들어와도 꺼진 상태 유지
  • Power On — 전원이 들어오면 자동으로 부팅
  • Last State — 정전 직전 상태(켜짐/꺼짐)를 복원

Power On으로 변경하고 저장하면 된다.

참고 사항

  • 서버/산업용 PC에서는 거의 대부분 이 옵션을 지원한다.
  • 일부 저가형 메인보드에서는 해당 옵션이 없을 수 있다.
  • 무인 운영이 필요한 장비(예: k3s 클러스터 노드, Edge PC)에 이 설정을 켜두면, UPS와 함께 사용하여 정전 복구 후 자동 부팅이 가능하다.
  • Wake-on-LAN(WOL)과는 별개의 기능이며, WOL은 네트워크 패킷으로 원격 부팅하는 방식이다.
